Stellenbosch FC have confirmed the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Njabulo Blom ahead of the transfer deadline. The 26-year-old returns to South Africa aiming to revitalise his career after spells with Major League Soccer's St. Louis City SC and clubs in Vietnam and Indonesia.

The club announced the move on Friday morning, with the formalities completed before Monday's deadline. Blom, who will wear the number 35 jersey, last played for Indonesian side Borneo Samarinda after a short stint with Vietnamese club Nam Dinh FC. He was released by St. Louis City SC in July 2025.

Blom made his senior debut for Kaizer Chiefs in the 2019/20 season before moving to MLS in December 2022. He was loaned back to Amakhosi for the 2024/25 campaign, but a permanent deal did not materialise. His journey has now brought him to the Winelands, where he is familiar with the technical setup, having worked under Stellenbosch coach Gavin Hunt during the 2020/21 season at Chiefs.

The midfielder stated he is excited to begin this new chapter at a professional and well-run club. He acknowledged that Hunt's demanding style is exactly what he needs to improve and return to his best form. Blom is looking forward to the challenge and building relationships with his new teammates, pledging to do his best to help the team achieve its goals.

His arrival adds experience to a Stellenbosch side sitting seventh in the Premier Soccer League, as seen in the standings, with nine points from seven games. The team's recent form reads two wins, two draws and one defeat from their last five outings, including a 1-0 victory over Kruger United last time out. The team has scored 8 goals while conceding 6 in the league so far, a defensive solidity they will hope Blom can enhance.

Blom begins training immediately, aiming to stake a claim for a place in the squad for the team's next fixtures, a key encounter against his former club, the fourth-placed Kaizer Chiefs. His signing represents a strategic move to bolster the midfield as Stellenbosch look to climb the table from their current mid-table position. The club will be hoping his familiarity with Hunt's methods can provide an immediate boost as they target a top-half finish.
