Stellenbosch FC have officially signed Nigerian midfielder Lateef Adeyanju Kazeem on a free transfer. The 20-year-old arrives from Plateau United in the Nigerian Premier Football League and is the fifth Nigerian to join the club.
"Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Nigerian midfielder Lateef Adeyanju Kazeem on a free transfer," the club said in a statement. All formalities for the move were concluded last month.
Kazeem is a versatile left-footed midfielder who can also play on the wings. He made his career breakthrough at Inter Lagos before moving to Plateau United for the 2025-26 NPFL season. In his debut top-flight campaign, he made 24 league appearances, scoring once and providing five assists. He will wear the number 29 shirt for Stellenbosch.
The new signing is already integrated into first-team training. The technical staff will assess his match fitness ahead of Tuesday's Betway Premiership fixture against Kaizer Chiefs at Danie Craven Stadium to decide if he is ready for a starting or substitute role. Stellenbosch, currently seventh in the league, have nine points from seven games. They have scored 8 goals and conceded 7, and are unbeaten in their last three matches.
Kazeem is one of 17 new arrivals at the club this summer as they look to improve on their start to the 2026/27 campaign. A strong performance against fourth-placed Chiefs, who have 13 points from their seven matches, could see him become a key figure in their push for silverware.
