Stellenbosch FC's league rivals Milford and Sekhukhune United both claimed victories on Saturday, tightening the Betway Premiership standings ahead of Stellenbosch's next home fixture. The results see Milford climb to fourth and Sekhukhune move to sixth, while Stellenbosch's next opponents, Chippa United, remain rooted to the bottom of the table after a stoppage-time defeat.

Stellenbosch themselves sit seventh with 10 points from eight games, unbeaten in their last three outings following a 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs. They have recorded two wins and four draws from their eight league matches this season, scoring nine goals and conceding eight. They will host a Chippa side that is nine points adrift at the foot of the standings next weekend.

Milford made it four matches unbeaten with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Golden Arrows in the KwaZulu-Natal derby. The only goal came in the 71st minute when Siphosethu Ndlabi found the net with a right-footed shot at the Princess Magogo Stadium. That result was enough to lift Milford into the top four.

Chippa United's struggles continued with a 1-0 loss to Kruger United, who claimed just their second league win of the season. Chippa missed clear first-half chances through Goodman Mosele and Justice Figuareido before conceding a dramatic winner. Sipho Sibiya controlled a cross from the right in added time and fired into the bottom corner to seal the points for Kruger.

Sekhukhune United secured a 2-1 win over Marumo Gallants in Polokwane with a 92nd-minute header. Oageng Phiri had given Sekhukhune the lead on the half-hour mark, but goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi spilled a cross into his own net in the 78th minute to level the score. The winner came from Bethuel Muzeu, who headed home a cross from D'Angelo Kazeem deep into stoppage time to lift his side to sixth place.

For Stellenbosch, the focus now shifts to their own fixtures, starting with the visit of Chippa United on Saturday 30 October. The Maroons are currently 13 points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns but have shown resilience with a recent run of one win and two draws from their last three games, which included a 1-1 draw with Kaizer Chiefs where Mduduzi Shabalala scored their equaliser. Their top scorer this season is Q. Plaatjies with three goals in six appearances. The upcoming match presents a key opportunity to build momentum before the next phase of the season.
